131T Generators - Erfurt to Antwerp

ALS Moerdijk carried out the transport of a large shipment for DHL Industrial Projects, consisting of 4 Generators from Erfurt, Germany to the Port of Antwerp.

10th May 2010

ALS loaded 4 units, each measuring 9.2m x 4.7m x 4.3m and weighing in at a substantial 131Tonnes, plus ancillary equipment.

ALS identified that due to the dimensions and weight, it would be impossible to transport the generators directly, from Erfurt to Antwerp.

Therefore ALS advised a solution for the units to begin their voyage from Erfurt, by road transport, using specialised 13 to 15 axle modular trailers, to Aken.

Upon arrival at Aken, the units were reloaded onto a barge. In the meantime, the rest of the ancillary equipment, some of which were out of gauge, were then trucked to Antwerp.

The ALS team in Moerdijk, Netherlands were responsible for the whole project, which involved undertaking; road surveys, arranging permits, private and police escorts, removal of street furniture, road transports, barge movements, handling and craneage.

All cargo was delivered in a timely manner, to the Port of Antwerp for our client, DHL Industrial Projects.
