85T Press movement from Kehl, Germany
A tight situation proves to be no challenge for ALS!
8th October 2014
A press with dimensions: L:6.95m. x W:2.82m. x H:2.12m., Weight: 85,000kg was shipped over from Germany to the port of Immingham and subsequently moved onto a 10 axle trailer, the press sat on 4m wide certified beams for its transit to Sheffield by road at night.
The ALS team were present throughout the move and had carried out a route / site survey beforehand identifying uneven roads and a very narrow entrance at the customer delivery point.
Local Police were consulted and a road closure was required whilst the transit vehicle was jacked up, the support beams removed and the press moved onto a 4 row SPMT (self propelled modular trailer) which was specially commissioned for the job by the Hull team.
To the customers delight the press was successfully manoeuvred through the entrance and as the photographs show there were only centimetres to spare!
