Recycling baler transported from Belgium
Flexibility was key for this particular movement to Canada
8th May 2015
A recycling baler with dimensions: 15.10m x 2.65m x 3.6m with a weight of 50T has been moved by various means by ALS Hull.
It was the first shipment for the manufacturer to North America; the recycling baler was required at an Exhibition where it was exhibited to introduce the make, standard and quality of the product to the American market . Intensive planning was required to ensure that the machine with a 6 figure value arrived on time and in pristine condition.
Timing for the vessel was therefore imperative and due to the prearranged vessel falling behind schedule ALS had to source an alternative solution which resulted in moving the machine to a second European port for shipment to the US.
An articulated low-loader was used to transport from factory to Port. It was then transshipped onto a ro/ro vessel.
The Project Manager at ALS was responsible for the entire transportation and shipment and also undertook all customs formalities both in Europe and North America, storage of machine was required and the machine prepared for exhibiting prior to delivery.
Private escorts were employed in the US and Canada. Lifts were required at the Ports and for its final journey a Canadian multi-axle heavy duty trailer (pictured) was used for its transportation by road to the Exhibition. Time taken from collection to delivery was approx. one month.
