Heavy Project Cargo Hamburg to Abu Dhabi
Thanks to the close cooperation with ALS German colleagues, ALS has once again been able to arrange the complete transport of a heavy load Project from Germany to Abu Dhabi.
25th October 2010
Commencing from the factory, the separate heavy units, consisting of drum shells and heating jackets, were safely loaded and transported by inland barge, from Stassfurt (East Germany) to the port of Hamburg. Upon arrival of the inland barges in Hamburg, a heavy lifter ship was positioned to arrange the direct delivery from barge into ship, whereby the transshipment operation was operated by the ships gear.
The heavy lift ship, was loaded in 2 days, the overall operation ran smoothly and she sailed from Hamburg, heading for Middle East on schedule.
The operation required a sharp coordination between all parties involved to avoid any overtime charges, as well as waiting costs on the ship, barge or from the stevedores. The shipment consisted of 7 pieces with a unit weight up to 215 tons per lift, totalling over 2,500 cubic meters and was certainly a successful challenge for the ALS team!
As per usual practice, ALS appointed a qualified surveyor in both ports, whereby it was ascertained that all operations of lifting and lashing were done according to good seamanship and ISO standards.
The discharge in Mina Zayed, Abu Dhabi, was carried out quickly and efficiently and the cargo was delivered to the receivers in a safe and timely manner.
This consignment was the first of a series of 3 and due the swift operation of this first series, ALS will continue for the next part of the Project.
