How to ship 36m long crane beams to Asia

Transportation organised from Holland

4th January 2019

With almost 40 years’ experience Abnormal Load Services - ALS’ sea freight team were delighted to work on planning and organising the transport of the oversized cargo from Holland to Singapore.

Working closely with ALS’ agent in Singapore resulted in a door-to-door solution for two crane beams measuring 36 metres long, 2.50 metres wide, 2.50 metres high and weighing 45 tons each. These were cranes moved by road and sea, loaded on the vessels deck as part cargo.

ALS’ client initially wanted to split the crane beams into two parts for transportation, each at 18 metres. However, on the advice of the ALS team it was more cost effective for them to transport the beams in their original sizes.

The client welcomed a further suggestion by ALS to shrink-wrap the crane beams to protect them during transit instead of packing them in seaworthy crates.
