Gas Turbine and Generator transportation

Hull based company ALS Limited have transported a 315T turbine and 230T generator abnormal load and 27 cases from Japan to the UK.

11th March 2010

Following the cargoes' arrival from Japan into Immingham, ALS ensured it's timely arrival at it's final destination of the South Humber Power Station, Killingholme.

The abnormal loads and additional cargo was transported with a 15 row 2 file modular trailer and a 12 row 3 file modular trailer.

Dimensions of the generator & gas turbine were 12.90m x 3.60m x 4.20m = 230T / 11.20m x 5.20m x 4.90m = 315T.

ALS' sea freight team and operations team based at ALS (Freight Management Nederland) BV in Moerdijk, Netherlands and ALS (International) Limited, based in Hull arranged the FOB movement using a geared vessel (MV Palmerton) equipped with 2 x 450t cranes on it's maiden voyage from Japan to Immingham.

The cargo left Japan on 21st December 2009 and arrived in Immingham early March 2010. ALS was responsible for the movement from ships rail charter, stevedore, transport and offloading in the UK from the trailers.
