Strategic move for 152-ton steel roll
ALS used multi-modal logistics to move a 152-ton back-up roll from Göteborg to Oxelösund in Sweden.

Due to its weight, it could not be transported over the country’s main roads, so an alternative solution was required.

A decision was made to load the back-up roll in tandem lift onto the special heavy-duty trailer which was driven onto a RORO-pontoon via a special ramp, this was subsequently towed along the Swedish coastline to Oxelösund.
Upon arrival the truck drove off using the same ramp again for offloading.
Example of another Steel Roll Movement, this one was from the UK to Ohio USA.
