Super Sewer Tunnelling

TBM sections are moved from King George's Park

Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) “Charlotte” was recently lifted from the ground out of the shaft at King George's Park, in London.

ALS’ specialist Project Manager in Hull arranged for the TBM sections to be transported over 2 days with a private escort vehicle back to Dormay Street.

Dimensions of loads:
       1x Stationary Shell    -    L:2.70m x W:3.40m x H:3.40m, 45000kg
       1x Forward Shell       -    L:2.70m x W:3.40m x H:3.40m, 50000kg
       1x Tail Can                -    L:2.70m x W:3.40m x H:3.40m, 8000kg

The TBM will be placed back in the ground and used to tunnel a further 600 metres north to Fulham, it is being used as part of the Thames Tideway Tunnel project to clean the River Thames from sewage pollution.
