Tunnel Boring Machine is moved from Ilford

Abnormal Load Services (ALS) in Hull were contracted again to arrange the return of the tunnel boring machine (TBM) back to their clients premises.

19th April 2018

The TBMs’ first movement to Ilford was also controlled by ALS and had been on display for the last 7 years outside The Tunnelling & Underground Construction Academy’s (TUCA) reception.

The machine was removed in 2 sections, Cutter Head 76T & Stationary Shell 52T, with diameters of 4.25m.

Due to limited space on site and the close proximity of a high voltage electricity pylon a Gantry System was utilised for the load out to transport.
