High And Heavy Team Coordinate 34 Loads

ALS (a division of Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics) recently coordinated the delivery of a Komatsu PC2000 Excavator and eight Komatsu HD785 Dump Trucks from South Shields to Lugar & Dunbar in Scotland.

31st July 2013

Manufactured in Japan and shipped by the client into Tyne Dock, the Komatsu PC2000 is the fourth of it’s kind to be operating in the UK.

The ALS teams also transported the previous 3 earth moving giants to other quarry sites in Scotland and Wales over the past few years. Delivery of the 8 Dump trucks was completed over a 3-day period whilst the Excavator was collected and delivered over 2 days.

The Excavator and Dump trucks were transported in “kit form” and consisted of 34 loads transported on a mixture of semi low loader and flat trailers.

The largest part of the machinery was the Main body of the Excavator weighing 31tonnes and measuring 3.4m wide and the Dump truck main body of 24tonnes and 3.44m wide.

ALS team preparations included completing a detailed and comprehensive load plan for their client, and close liaison with the port to ensure a smooth operation of the lifting to transport.

Once assembled on site the Excavator weighed in at an enormous 200tonnes and the Dump trucks also an impressive 73tonnes each.

The deliveries were completed on schedule with no delays and a continued relationship and service to this client is maintained.
