ALS’ marine operations team comes to the rescue of vessel in distress

The EMS Majestic was subjected to a search rescue and recovery operation by HM Coastguard and other agencies.
At approximately 20.30 pm 6/12/15 ALS UK International Limited’s Marine Operations Department based in Hull, East Yorkshire were contacted with an urgent request for assistance with regards to a vessel in distress in the English Channel.
ALS are subsequently acting as ship’s agent and operations managers to recover the vessel to ABP’s port of Southampton, where the vessel will undertake emergency investigation and repair to establish the source of the incident.
This highlights the important role played by the Port of Southampton as a safe haven for handling vessels in distress and their cargo.
Two crew airlifted to safety from the ship by HM Coastguard during the initial response have been safely recovered and will be repatriated to the vessel on its arrival in Southampton.
The incident occurred during high seas and strong winds. At this stage the cause of incident remains unknown.
ALS’ response team are currently in attendance and handling the incident on behalf of the vessel owner’s.
The vessel is due to berth adjacent to ALS’s parent company WWL Lines terminal imminently.
