ALS moving on Gas

Another successful project was completed as a 95 ton Rotor is transported from Alexandria - Egypt to Belfort, France.

21st August 2015

ALS Moerdijk worked closely within the WWL network to coordinate and supervise the movement of a Gas Turbine Rotor with a high value close to USD 12,000,000 ensuring that it was handled in a safe and efficient manner.

The rotor piece with dimensions: L: 13. 97m x W: 4.01m x H:3.83m was shipped from Alexandria, Egypt on a WWL ro/ro vessel. With transshipment in Zeebrugge the rotor was loaded on a 120 ton Mafi trailer and protected with PE liner during sea voyage. It was then covered with tarpaulin and lifted into a barge and for its journey to Strasbourg.

Marine surveyors were employed for both Zeebrugge and Strasbourg to oversee the work at the Ports and ensure appropriate balancing of the rotor to avoid any collision, knocks or damages.

A further transshipment from barge and lift onto truck in Strasbourg was carried out for its final delivery to Belfort by 10 axle trailer.
