ALS ships Turbine and Generator to Texas

ALS’ abnormal loads shipping team recently arranged the delivery of a 78T Generator and 63T Turbine, plus ancillary equipment to Woodville, Texas.

6th June 2013

The Generator measured 7.36m L X 4.24m W X 3.16m H and the Turbine 7.83m L x 5.15Mw X 4.35m H.

Due to the height of the equipment, 2 x 13 axle low bed trailers were used for the Generator and Turbine deliveries, and 7 x semi low bed trailers were used for the Ancillary equipment.

The delivery of Generator equipment from Southampton Port to the Woodville jobsite was completed in 24 days, with additional deliveries of Turbine equipment from Houston Port, and a Lube Oil Unit from Michigan. Shipment was on DDP terms and ALS took responsibility for arranging the USA Inward Customs Clearance, Import Duty and Tax payments, and USA all risks insurance, on behalf of the client.

A route survey was carried out for the Generator and Turbine deliveries from Galveston and Houston to Woodville, and ALS arranged permits and pilot cars in the USA. With a cargo value of more than USD 7 million ALS maintained very close communication with the client, the vendors and the consignee prior to and throughout the movement.

The delivery contract was completed without any major difficulties and all components arrived on schedule and in good condition for installation at the new 49.9MW biomass power plant.

The receiver has commented to ALS “The Project is very close to being finalized, thanks to the very smooth operation with you”. This is the fourth similar contract which ALS has completed for this client in the USA and Canada.
