51 T compressors transported Scotland to Russia

ALS’ exceptionally committed operations team worked together to organise the transportation of 2 compressor units and ancillary equipment within the UK to meet a vessel to their final destination in Russia.

The team have a wide range of experience and are able to find multimodal logistics solutions for out of gauge shipments, both in the UK and worldwide including inhouse specialists from Russia, Turkey and Poland.

The two compressors each measured 13.10 metres long a 4.41 metres wide with a height of 4.50 metres and weighed 51 tons, They were transported on low bed trailers and a further five trailers were utilised to carry the additional ancillary equipment.

Lifting and quay operations were arranged by ALS to lift all 18 crated items into the hold of the vessel, which were lashed and safely secured for the vessel’s voyage from Grangemouth.

Scope of work:

  • Transportation by road from factory to quay
  • Crane lifts direct from trailer to vessel
  • Lashing & securing in the vessel hold

The movement involved a lot of planning and some last minute adjustments to ensure the cargo was carefully and safely transported from the collection point to the vessel with the most cost effective solution.
